What to Expect
While diet and exercise should always be the first line of defense in improving your figure, some concerns—like loose folds of skin—can only be resolved through surgery. A tummy tuck is best for those men and women who are within several pounds of a healthy target weight and have maintained that weight long-term. Some candidates may see better results from a
mini tummy tuck, but this is something that Dr. Truong will talk more with you about during your consultation.
Your Consultation
When you first meet with Dr. Truong, he’ll listen carefully to your hopes for surgery, and explain more about the results you can expect to achieve with abdominoplasty. During this time, he’ll conduct a physical evaluation to ensure that a tummy tuck is the best option to help you meet your goals.
Dr. Truong will take time to answer any questions you may have, as well as provide further information on the steps he’ll take during surgery and how you should best prepare for your procedure and your recovery.
Preparing for Your Tummy Tuck
Traditional abdominoplasty can take anywhere from about 1 to 3 hours in the hands of an experienced cosmetic surgeon. However, the specific amount of time taken during surgery can vary depending on whether other procedures are included at the same time. Most men and women can return home later on the same day the surgery is performed.
Recovery & Results
Although everyone’s recovery experience is a little different, generally you can expect to feel sore at your incision site, and a feeling of tightness across your belly. These should both ease as your body heals, and most tummy tuck patients are back to work within a week or two.
Results of your tummy tuck may be somewhat disguised by swelling or bruising initially, but you should see an improvement in your waistline fairly quickly. Incisions can typically be hidden by clothing, even underwear and swimsuits, for a slimmer silhouette that better accentuates your figure.
